Why Slim Down?

Seems like everyone is trying to be more weight conscious and worrying about slimming down.  So why are people doing this?  Iíve asked around and here is what people have told me.


  1. Boosts energy

People say that they feel that they can do more.  Walk up stairs and not feel winded.  They rather take shorts walks to places instead of driving.  Your mood also improves when you have more energy.  You become happier and more joyful.  It is also known that depression hits overweight people more.  


  1. Boosts Self-confidence

Instead of wanting to stay in the house, they now want to be seen.  They want to be photographed in pictures now.  They donít feel that they are being stared at for being overweight, but instead because they look leaner.


  1. Lengthens your life

Being obese can take up to 15-20 years off of your life.  You chances of cancer are much lower if you are slim.  Even if you get cancer while slim, you have a better chance of beating cancer.  


  1. Better health

Dementia is higher with people who have larger bellies.  Breathing is also easier for a slim person, therefore less likely to suffer from asthma.  There is also less stress on your joints.  Walking and moving around is much easier and effortless.  Your reaction time can be much quicker as well.  


Might sound a little scary, but with just these 4 benefits, I just want to start to slim down and become a little more health conscious.
